Drive-in

Yes! It is for sale. Drive-In.

BLURB

Brandi’s recovering from a painful and expensive divorce, and definitely isn’t looking for a relationship. But when her high-school crush Evan bangs into her—literally—his gorgeous body and sexy smile have as much a hold on her as ever. It’s no wonder Brandi can’t bring herself to say no to him when he reminds her that she still owes him a date he was promised more than ten years ago.

Evan figures he has one chance to wow Brandi, who’s always been the one who got away. To his delight, he finds she’s the same girl he used to know…but she now has a sexy, slightly kinky edge. When their date takes an unexpectedly erotic turn and ends with the best sex of his life, Evan knows she’s still the only girl for him. Now he just has to convince Brandi.

Spanks For The Memories

When their date takes an unexpectedly erotic turn and ends with the best sex of his life, Evan knows she’s still the only girl for him. Now he just has to convince Brandi.

Setup: Evan is trying to recreate a date from high school, but things go terribly wrong when the drive-in movie theater has changed their format to porn.

Excerpt:

She’d always thought porn was reserved for rowdy bachelor parties or lonely men to view in private. It had never occurred to her that voyeurism would set her pulse racing and her pussy throbbing.

Brandi and Evan both snickered at the intrusion. Back on the screen, the couple had transitioned into doggy style on the floor. Lance held Destiny’s mane of hair in one hand, tugging like he was holding reins. With his other hand, Lance slapped Destiny’s ass over and over again, calling her a bad girl. By her own admission, repeating yes again and again and again, Destiny agreed with Lance’s assessment of her badness.

Drive-In

Here we are again. Horny Hump Day.

And I chose an excerpt from Drive-In because, well, dang, it has the same couple on the cover as the Horny Hump Day graphic. And they're pretty much doing what they're doing on my book cover. Speaking of covers...I know I said I loved the cover for Stormy Wedding, but I love this one too. They just got it so right at Ellora's Cave.

Teaser (forgive me for using 4 sentences):

His face heated up. He wasn’t accustomed to viewing porn with a girl on a first date. Or second date. Planning a porn date sounded more like a last-date sort of stunt.

Beanpot the Sequel

The results are in.
And it's official.
I can't decide which story I love the most, Stormy Wedding or Drive-In, and the judges in the 2012 Readers Choice Beanpot couldn't either. I tied myself for second place. I'll kick my butt next year. Who won the novella category? Painted in Pleasure by Dena de Paulo. Great title. Great name. I think the cover was awsome too. Congrats to all the winners and finalists. It really was an honor to be nominated.

BEANPOT

I'm a finalist! Wait! I'm a double finalist in the New England RWA Reader's Choice Beanpot (ought to be Jackpot) contest in the novella category. Not the erotic novella category - the novella category. I write good stories. Good stories with hot, steamy, sizzling sex.
As writers, we pour our hearts into our characters, send them out into the world and hope they are appreciated. They are. Both of 'em.
The competition is fierce, so wish me luck.

Sizzling Hot Books

Can I get a whoo hoo? I received my first review for Drive-In. Sizzling Hot Books says, "Drive-In by Kelli Scott is a short read with plenty of spice! I definitely recommend Drive-In when you need a good quick pick me up or are just in need of a smile."

I gotta say, I totally agree. What do you think?

A STORY IS BORN

Sometime around the first of the year, late February to early March, I began writing Drive-In. It was meant to be a very short, free story. Somehow Drive-In got away from me and ended up being 12,000 words when I submitted it in late April to Ellora's Cave. A Quickie. Early May my editor, Meghan Conrad got back to me saying she liked it, but wanted it longer. She gave me some direction and revision notes. I resubmitted in late May with a story that was 19,000 words.

Contracts were signed and re-signed because I can never seem to get that part done without mistakes, mostly on my part. I filled out cover request forms and of course I moved on to the next story. Mid October I received my first round of edits, which ended up taking me entirely too long (three weeks) and added another 3000 words. A grand total of 22,000 words. Around that same time I got the awsome cover (by Caitlin Fry, featuring the back of Jimmy Thomas' head).
December 2nd, as scheduled (after a few blips and blurps), Drive-In went live. Nine months after conception. And I'm as proud as a new mommy.

I'M IN LOVE

I got hit all at once, smacked by love. New cover art (by Caitlin Fry), a release date (Dec 2nd) and I turned in my completed edits. Drive-In is a "go" for December 2nd. I love the cover. I love the story.
