What can I say about Magic Mike XXL? It is what it is. I laughed, sure. Who doesn't like watching some fine dancing by fine men? One of the two gals I screened the movie with loved it more than me. She found it very satisfying. We had lunch after, making it more like an event. There were things I thought were better than the first movie (Mike's love interest for instance), but not leaps and bounds better. There were things I liked better about the original (it had more...heart, in my opinion). I didn't care for Matthew McConaughey in the first movie (don't think I was supposed to), I loved Joe Manganiello in both. I like Channing Tatum in both. I think it fulfilled its objective of putting butts in movie theater seats.

I'm guesssing there are no Oscar nods coming Mike's way, but when/if XXL or even the 1st MM comes on Netflix, I'm there. Again.

If you've read my erotic romances and/or erotica, you'd probably find them to be on the mild side. I don't routinely have my hero tie up my heroine and flog her. I'm all about the playful spanking though, like in Rub Me The Right Way.

Why don't I write the hardcore sex with all the bells & whistles, cuffs & paddles? Because I don't "get" it. In my quest to understand the appeal of BDSM, I sat down to watch the documentary, KINK on Netflix (my go-to resource for information, education, and entertainment) about kink.com, a fetish website.

What's my take on the documentary? The people behind the scenes were 100% on board with providing kink to the masses, claiming the "models" were kinksters who get paid for doing what they love. What could be better than that? The models (not actors) supposedly had full disclosure and were in control of the scenes. A win win for everyone.

However, interviews with the models...were not as convincing...to me. I saw ambivalence, and in some cases fear upon hearing what might be expected of them. One "model" said something to the effect that careers in the kink industry spanned about two years before a model was chewed up and spit out. I don't doubt it. This is just my opinion, but having your circulation inhibited, as well as repeated bruising, can't be good for you (although, I'm sure some would argue that I'm way off base and uninformed - they'd be right). Did it turn me on? No. Am i going to write BDSM? Probably not. I just don't get it.

So I added the documentary After Porn Ends to my Netflix "to be watched" list and finally watched it.

Why? I have a love/hate relationship with porn. It's a tool in my orgasm arsenal, no doubt about it. I'm all about consenting adults exploring their sexual freedom - on camera - if they choose. Maybe being watched excites them or the money led them down the porn path. I can live with that. But more and more I wonder if the adults are really adults, and are they consenting? This is the hate part in my love/hate relationship with porn...I find myself contemplating what kind of person flaunts their vagina in such a public forum. What brought them to this life that I can't even fathom? Are they forced, tricked, trapped? The answere is yes, sometimes.

According to "U.S. Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking,  a collaborative, faith-based network that offers educational programs and materials, supports access to survivor services, and engages in legislative advocacy to eradicate modern-day slavery.", 66-90% of women involved in the production of pornography were sexually abused as children.  These are the perverse thoughts that cross my mind while watching porn.

In the documentary, After Porn Ends, many of the women had shame and regrets about their porn past. The stigma of pornography haunted their present and probably their futures, as well as the lives of their family and children. Some were victims of childhood abuse, and felt they had no place to turn. A couple were so miserable they attemped suicide. Others drowned their misery in drugs and alcohol. The men seemed to have no regrets and few repercussions. Go figure.
