Valentine's Day Gift Hop

Welcome to my contribution to the Valentine's Day Gift Hop!!!! 
 
 
I have a love/hate relationship with Valentine's Day. Part of me believes to my very core that the holiday is nothing more than an opportunity for the flower and chocolate industry to get a noticable bump in their profits. The girlie girl deep down inside me desperately needs a bouquet of flowers on her desk at work to brag about. I will only be five weeks into a relationship come V-Day. And he's going out of town a few days prior (already verbalised his relief that he dodged the Valentine's Day bullet).
 
So here's my position. I found a guy who treats me like a princess every day. I don't need flowers or a Be My Valentine card to complete me. But I sure want a token of affection on the big day. Yes I do. Bigger is better.
 
What's your take on Valentine's Day? Love it? Hate it? Take it or leave it?

Blurb

    I hear ya. And sometimes being a couple on V-day leaves much to be desired. I got a doggy gate for my station wagon one year.

    i do like valentine's day, although at the same time I think that love and friendship should be celebrated the whole year. But it's a fun day.

    We don't celebrate V-Day. Yeah sure I would love a big bouquet of my favorite flowers but I get them on my birthday & our anniversary or random days he just felt like it. I would much rather have them on a day that he doesn't feel obligated to get them at damn triple the price. So we stay in make dinner together with our kids then cuddle up for a movie. Much better than spending a bunch of money for some flowers that are gonna die in a week anyway. :)

    I'm not big into valentine's day in general... even tho hubby did have a WONDERFUL unexpected surprise for me this year... normally if we do anything ... it's just dinner and a movie.
